and we adored the dessert buffet, especially the homemade fudge and orange liquor-soaked cake with butter cream icing. Breakfast was exquisitely presented and prepared, yet light enough so that we had plenty of room for wine tasting in the valley and a day full of California cuisine. Complimentary wine, coffee, teas and spring water were available all day and night, and we availed ourselves of these as well... while relaxing at the Inn, we also learned how to play backgammon, played old '78s on a gramophone, had wonderful conversations with the hosts and other guests, and just adored our overall experience. I cannot say enough about the hosts: Wonderful, friendly, warm, incredibly helpful. There is no doubt we will be back, and soon. Thank you for a fabulous, celebratory visit! See you soon!” |

One of Napa’s first Bed and Breakfasts, the Old World Inn is known for two things: Friendliness, and incredible food. Chocolate Amaretto Torte About the House: Designated one of Napa's Landmark houses, the Old World Inn was built in 1906 by E. W. Doughty, a master craftsman responsible for some of the town's most beautiful homes and churches. This house was special for Doughty: He built it as his private residence—a home for himself and his family. From the start, the house was the center of celebration—weddings, holidays, and all kinds of family get-togethers. Lots of happy people have spent many happy hours here. The entire home feels friendly and relaxed, a testament to the builder’s sensitivity and skill. Rooms are sunny and inviting, and a perfect place to rest at the end of a long day. Featherbeds, fireplaces, individual private baths, and private 2-person Jacuzzi tubs are just a few of the many features waiting for overnight guests. |
